Percussion Instrument Repair
Sri's Lab helps mridangists keep their instruments in strong playing condition through thoughtful repair, maintenance, restoration, and related services.
About
Sri's Lab is a small, home-based service dedicated to the repair, maintenance, and restoration of mridangams. The goal is simple: make it easier for musicians to care for their instruments locally, without needing to delay repairs or depend entirely on overseas travel.
Whether an instrument needs attention for tone, playability, upkeep, or general restoration, Sri's Lab aims to provide careful, practical support grounded in respect for the instrument and the needs of the player.
About Sri
Sri's Lab is built from a personal interest in keeping mridangams in strong playing condition. As a mridangist, I care deeply about the feel, response, and sound quality of the instruments I play, and that interest has naturally led me toward learning more about repair, upkeep, and restoration.
I am still early in my journey into mridangam repair and am actively exploring the field with care and curiosity. My goal is to better understand the instrument not only as a performer, but also through the practical work required to maintain and improve its condition over time.
I have been learning mridangam for over 14 years and continue to stay closely connected to the instrument through performance and study. Sri's Lab reflects that perspective: a player-first approach grounded in respect for the instrument, the music, and the needs of fellow musicians.
